Technological breakthroughs: Using them in crises.

One of the most challenging aspects every day, but especially in the midst of a crisis, is harnessing the myriad sources of information that exist via facebook, twitter, text, email, rss feeds, news etc.  Luckily there are people out there who possess not only a programming gift but also a gift for application.  Please take 10 minutes to click through the links below.  If you weren't aware of what's out there, your mind will be opened!

Ushahidi, which means ”testimony” in Swahili, is a website that was developed to map reports of violence in Kenya after the post-election fallout at the beginning of 2008. We’re working to build a new platform that can be used anywhere in the world, and this blog tells some of that story.more →
This seems like it could be really cool from the demos but I haven’t figured it out yet.  Not a super-intuitive tool.
